Today, at the Doctor's Office

Okay, you know how sometimes you are sitting in the waiting room, waiting (what else would you be doing?) and you somehow get stuck chatting to this person who just will not be quiet and leave you in peace for the life of you? Well, today I visited the doctor's office found my visit most intriguing. I learned a lot about one of my fellow Edinburghers that I did not necessarily need or even want to know. Her MO was to ask for the time and as soon as you gave it to her, she pounced: giving you all her life's details.

I thought I would summarize her life story in bullets, so you can understand how my day went:
  • She had been in the hospital for 14 days prior to this because of a problem with her tonsils.
  • 14 days was a much longer length of time than she expected to be in the hospital for - she'd been told she'd be there for 3 days tops
  • She hates living in our part of town and will soon be moving out to a better section thanks to her support worker
  • The reason she hates our part of town is because her sister was murdered here (I also heard the gory details of her tragic death, but they're not exactly intended for PG audiences!)
  • Her husband, the love of her life, passed away a few years back due to liver problems from excessive drinking
  • She has also had problems with excessive drinking
  • Her flat was recently flooded by her upstairs neighbor
  • She really likes horse racing
  • She wants to go on holiday but doesn't have the money at present
  • She thinks it takes too long to be seen by the doctor at our doctor's surgery (aka office)
Yep, she was pretty much a classic over-sharer! Note to self for future: pretend I don't have a watch and wear earphones so I cannot hear!
